De Heeren van Vonder developed an indoor game concept for Janssen-Fritsen.
We were asked to make a first person animation of the (at that time non existing) arena.
First : modelling of the arena. Hand model the generic Janssen Fritsen equipment.
texturing, shading and lighting the arena
Challenge was to convincingly animate the first person movement. We mounted a htc tracker device on a helmet, and rebuilded needed parts of the virtual set in real life. The motion data of us running over the parcours was then recorded and brought into our 3D model, and we linked a camera to the movement. See explainamation below.
Recording day! In the end we used my son's movement. His tracking data came out much more flexible and agile than my old rusty moves...
here's an impression of the renderd footage that has been delevered for futher editing.
